NRI Institute of Medical Sciences was established and it was started functioning from the academic year 2012-13. It was located at a distance of 25kms from Waltair (Visakhapatnam) Railway Station, 23km from state bus complex, 40kms from the Naval Airport and 20kms from the upcoming International Airport on the National Highway from Chennai to Kolkatta. Anil Neerukonda Hospital was established with all basic specialities in the year 2005 with a bed strength of 300. Now the same hospital has been upgraded as teaching hospital with 650 beds having 10 specialities.
