Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal Medical Educational and Charitable Trust was started by our Founder Chancellor Dr A. Shanmugasundaram in the year 1981 to serve the needy in the society. The trust established its very first medical college at Pondicherry, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital, in the year 2000. Located at Pondicherry- Cuddalore Road, a national highway, the self-contained and serene campus is spread over 44 acres of lush green lands. Initially, it was affiliated to Pondicherry University, the institution subsequently came under the ambit of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation Deemed to be University, in the year 2004. The institution offers postgraduate courses in 13 disciplines and PhD programmes across various specialities and interdisciplinary areas. The MBBS programme was started in the year 2000-2001 and continued ever since. At present, the annual intake is 150 MBBS and 74 postgraduate students; currently, over 750 undergraduate and postgraduate students are pursuing their studies at AVMCH.
